Language
Anki has been translated into a number of different languages. By default Anki will start up in the language your computer uses, but you can change this if you want.
Some dialog buttons won't reflect the new language choice until you restart Anki.
- Show divider between question and answer
- Draw a line to separate the question and answer
- Put space between question and answer
- add padding so the question is at 33% and answer at 66% of the screen.
- Show next time before answer
- Show the next time the card will appear above the answer buttons.
- Show due count and progress during review
- If this is disabled, most of the status bar and title bar is hidden to avoid distracting you.
- Prevent edits until answer shown
- Don't allow the card browser or inline editor to be opened until the answer is shown. This prevents you from accidentally seeing the answer.
Network
Synchronization
If you want to use Anki on multiple computers, or study from the web or your cell phone, you can use Anki's free synchronization features.
If you don't have an account, click 'create a free account' first, and make an account. Then put your username and password into the fields provided.
By default Anki tries to synchronize your deck each time you open or close it. If you are without internet access for a while, you can disable this automatic synchronization.
Proxy
If you need a proxy to access the internet, enter your details here. When specifying the host, don't include 'http://'.

- Always open the last deck on startup
- when starting Anki, open the last deck instead of the deck browser. This will happen automatically if you only have one deck.
- Show decks with cards due first in browser
- Sort the deck browser to show decks with cards due first. The default is to show decks in the order they were modified.
- Delete original media on add
- normally when you add sounds or pictures, the original files are not touched. If you don't need the originals and would prefer Anki deletes them, enable this option.
- Add hidden char to text
- This works around a bug on Mac computers where the last character of Thai text is sometimes cut off.
