The latest version of Anki can be downloaded at http://ichi2.net/anki/download/index.html

Windows"

  1. Download the EXE installation file.
  2. Run the EXE installation file to install.

Mac:

  1. Download the DMG file.
  2. Extract from the DMG file. Copying the Anki application out of the DMG file will make it run somewhat faster (the DMG file is compressed, so access is a little slow)

Linux/BSD:

  1. Download the .tgz file.
  2. Extract from the file (tar zxvf anki-VERSION.tgz).

  3. Read the README file.

Note: Anki needs Python Qt 4.2, which a number of distros don't have yet. Debian testing (lenny) and unstable (sid) users can use the python-qt4 package. Ubuntu 7.10 (gutsy) and newer also have that package. Separate Ubuntu (feisty) packages are available.

Debian/Ubuntu packages of Anki itself are also available from the Anki download page. Anki is also distributed with Debian's lenny (5.0) and sid (unstable) distributions, and can be installed through the package manager (for example, aptitude install anki).
