General suggestions:
- Allow importing of card-specific tags (i.e. from a field in a tab-separated file)
- Improve website (add support for changing models, editing cards)
- Allow field model reordering
- Change audio toolkit - address issues with queuing many sounds, sounds playing too quickly, some sounds not playing properly.
- Interruptable syncing
- Importers for jMemorize, excel@japanese and pauker
- Multiple decks open in one program ("tabbed" anki?)
- Learn new cards in among expired cards (could lead to even bigger backlog, though)
- Implement a mass find and replace feature when editing a deck.
- Web Version: Display time until next card for each deck on Change Deck page
- Adjustable "daybreak time", daily recall statistics are reset at midnight but some people learn throughout the nights
- Customizable flash cards sheet generator from the deck database of Anki. One page has around 20 words, another page in reverse directions has the definitions of those 20 words. A printout sheet is extremely useful for those without mobile phone, or phone without internet access, but still want to study on the road.
- Add facilities that will allow teachers to monitor students' progress and distribute new cards to students' decks.

Continuous autosave http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1951541&forum_id=701801
Autosave in a separate deck is too complicated. Multi-level undo and more frequent (time-based) saving will probably come at some point in the future.
- For testing purposes - have a warning when an error is being logged in the error log file. This way the error can be reported immediately and the actions that prompted it remembered.
Time & date stamps in the error log, so the user knows which errors just happened and which are old.

Individual access to fact tags, model tags and card model tags for card models http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1986137&forum_id=701801
- Alias %(tags)s to %(Tags)s to maintain consistency with editor window
- Bring back an emacs mode for anki (like flashcard.el)
Improved graph support:
- toggling graphs on/off,
remembering shown state & last period,
- 24 hour graph.
- How many cards you have reviewed over the past number of days (weeks, etc).
Remaining cards prediction graph (http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1955807&forum_id=701801).
Auto-scale (http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1951644&forum_id=701801).
OS Specific:
- Default to 'my documents', not 'documents and settings' on win32
- Default to 'Documents\Anki', not the Home directory on the Mac
- Enable close button in window decoration on Mac
Editor suggestions:
saving of window position/size (& column spacing)
- quick export of selected facts to a csv/anki file
filtering by multiple tags (show all cards with tag A & all with B at once)
- filtering by cards without tags (show all cards with no tags, in case you forgot to add tags when creating the card)
- shortcuts to jump to list and move up/down one record
- return of the right-click context menu in addition to the buttons (more speed for the pros)
GUI Design:
For the priorities and postponing tab:
Cards can be prioritized and de-prioritised by entering tags into the following table. More than one tag can be placed in the same row by separating them with commas.
Prioritise List |

De-prioritize List |

Show first |

Show last |

In the prioritise list, if you mark a tag with a star on either side, e.g. *Japanese*, then new cards with this tag will be prioritised before due cards.
Won't change, or pending discussion
Open the "add new card" and the "edit deck" screens in tabs instead of windows http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4811715
this has been tried in a previous version of Anki, but means you can only see one thing at once
Manual toggle between reviewing and learning modes http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1935257&forum_id=701801
I'd rather a "blend new cards into old cards" mode
- Add option to change background/font colors for different cards... For example, the ability to set "production" cards to white text on green background and "recognition" cards to black text on a yellow background. This is even more useful as the number of cards for any given fact increases.
You can change the background by putting HTML into the question and answer formats, or you can just put the type of card as a prompt in the question format.
Display the intervals for 0 and 1 answers too http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1949305&forum_id=701801
You can already do this by turning on compact answer button mode.
- Add support for an all-purpose import capability, where you can paste your own import code into anki. (e.g. to preprocess each line) This should be trivial since it's python
You can add new importers via plugins already.
- Separate scheduling options for new cards (different time intervals for 2-4, only for the first time you see a card)
I don't understand this request. Anki treats new cards specially already.
- Ability to run from USB stick (Portable App)
Already supported.
- SVG image support
Added
- Total review time tooltip always in minutes or as h:mm (currently it shows "1 hour" for a whole hour which is discouraging)
Added two decimal places
- user-configurable option to minimize anki to the tray and have it pop back up on single or double click on the tray icon
* tray pop-up notification system, similar to Thunderbird/Outlook
Done
