Synchronization

Synchronize this deck with name

Enable to support synchronization on this deck. Disable to prevent this deck from being stored on the server.

Changing the name in the text box will change the name of your deck on the server.

Sources

Anki allows people to make their decks public, so that other users can automatically download new cards as they're added. This is useful if you want to work on a deck with a friend, or if you're a teacher and want to distribute cards to all of your students.

To make one of your own decks public, visit the Anki website and choose "Manage decks".

To use someone else's public deck, first ask them to tell you their deck key. Then click 'Add Source', and copy and paste their deck key. After that, Anki will copy any cards from their deck into your deck each time you open Anki, or you manually sync.

Advanced

dp3.png

This tab allows you to customize some more advanced scheduling options. Please think twice before changing these options, as modifications may reduce Anki's effectiveness.

1: Again (Young)

Minutes to wait before showing new and young cards again after a '1' mark. Default is 10 minutes. If you select 'show failed cards last' in the study options, this number will be reset to 0.

1: Again (Mature)

Minutes to wait before showing mature cards again after '1'. Default is 10 minutes.

Mature cards are cards with an interval over 21 days.

1: Failure Multiplier

By default, Anki resets cards when you fail them. If you would prefer to reduce a card's interval but not reset it completely, you can choose a number to multiply by the old interval. A good choice is 0.10, which sets the new interval to 10% of the old interval - so a card that was 100 days is reduced to 10 days, for example.

If you customize this, it's recommended that you increase 'Again (Mature)'. Setting it to 480 will give you a review the next day, and if you are able to remember it correctly, then it's safe to schedule back into the future.

2: Initial Hard Interval

Time (in days) to show a card in the initial state when marked '2'. Default is 8-12 hours.

3: Initial Good Interval

Time (in days) to show a card in the initial state when marked '3'. Default is 3-5 days.

4: Initial Easy Interval

Time (in days) to show a card in the initial state when marked '4'. Default is 7-9 days.

Show failed cards early

Anki by default will show failed cards again before the 10 minute wait if you have nothing else to study. If you disable this option, the congratulations screen will be shown instead, until the cards become due.

Note that if you have turned on 'show failed cards last' in the study options, this option will have no effect.

Maximum failed cards

If you have more than this number of failed cards, a failed card is shown early instead of showing the next card to review.

This option is ignored if you have selected 'show failed cards last' in the study options.

New days start at

The default is 4.0, which means that Anki considers 4am the start of a new day (and lets you learn more new cards). Change this number if you wake up very early or go to bed very late.
