AnkiMini

AnkiMini is a small Anki client that allows you to review and sync your decks. It works out of the box on jailbroken iPod touches and iPhones and Nokia tablets. It also runs on other platforms like Zauruses, but some setup is involved.

iPod/iPhone installation

You need a jailbroken device. The desktop Anki was written in a language that Apple refuse to support, and thus jailbreaking was the fastest way to get Anki on such devices. In the long term a native client will probably be written, but this is months away. If you want to use Anki on your device in the mean time, you'll need to jailbreak. This is quite safe, but whether you want to take the slight risk is up to you.

Once you have a jailbroken device, installing Anki is as simple as opening Cydia (which is like the app store), and searching for Anki. After you install Anki, it will start up - this takes about 20 seconds, so please be patient. After 20 seconds, click the new 'Anki' icon on your home screen, and Anki will load up a sample deck.

The AnkiMini icon is currently broken on iPhone OS 3.0. You can still access AnkiMini by typing http://localhost:8000/ into Safari, then bookmarking the page.

The easiest way to get your own decks onto your device is to use Anki Online's synchronization support. Press the config button on the bottom left of AnkiMini, and enter your username and password. Save, then click 'Online' to download your decks.
